Wander Foods Healthy Dalgona Whipped Coffee
- Mix instant coffee with 2 tbsp of hot water
- Add all ingredients to blender and whip for 3 minutes
If using a frother it may take longer to create the mousse like consistency. - Spoon over top of porridge.
If anyone doesn’t know, aquafaba is the water from a can of chick peas and makes a great sub for egg whites. It makes a great meringue – I shit you not.
If you’re opening a can just for the water, see Spicy Roasted Chickpeas Snack recipe for a delicious moreish snack.
If you still want to make this and don’t have a can of chick peas in the back of your cupboard or wanting to make this “Proper Paleo”, you can substitute the aquafaba for an egg white.
Whisk the egg white only until firm peaks have formed, then add the other ingredients and whisk again until it’s the correct consistency.
The orginial Dalgona Coffees are made with a staggering 2 tablespoons of refined sugar. Yikes! I knew I couldn’t justify consuming that amount just for a cup of coffee – plus I think it would be that sweet it would be unpalatable AND let’s be honest – its only for the sake of an Instagram post.
Whilst this isn’t a strict Dalgona Coffee, by making it healthier and adding it to a porridge, we can treat it more as a pudding, so no need to feel that guilty about bringing a bit of sweetness into our lives.
The Dalgona whipped coffee is a perfect match for our Cacao & Nibs Noatmeal.
